Since the beginning of the pandemic, as a way to process the challenges of isolation, heartbreak, loss and occasionally joy, I turned to music. I realize have been secretly songwriting for the majority of my life, humming a melody, improvising some words, singing it the rest of the day and then promptly forgetting it, thinking it was a silly thing that everybody did. In the last few years, I realized these little songs are a significant part of who am and quite literally my voice. In November 2020 my goal was to write a song start to finish. I've since written songs about love, colonization, cats, heartbreak, the ongoing pandemic and having Long Covid. So put on a mask, pull up a chair and it's an honor to release my music out of the secret corners of my mind and share it with my community.
Zeo Boekbinder (they/them) was raised by two scientists who only owned a handful of tapes and CDs, yet Zeo grew up singing to themself. A song began to play in little Zeo’s head and never stopped, they are still humming it to this day. Boekbinder’s career started in 2005 when they formed a band with their sibling, Max. The two toured and recorded together under the name Vermillion Lies until 2009, when Boekbinder released their first solo album, Artichoke Perfume. That was also the year that Boekbinder started volunteering, teaching music workshops inside a maximum security prison. Boekbinder has released four solo albums and many singles and collaborations in the past 20 years. Their song topics are often informed by the state of the world, our social responsibility to each other, and the human condition.
When he’s not making venues, homes, and businesses safer from airborne viruses with Clean Air Events, founder Kyle Stevens is otherwise best known for his work as “nerd rock” pioneer and artist Kirby Krackle; songs about comic books, video games, and the best in geek culture. When the ongoing pandemic hit in March 2020, Kirby Krackle was just winding down its “10 years of Nerd Rock” celebration tour putting a bookend on a decade of performing and appearing at comic cons around the world.
In 2023, Kyle took that same passion for world building and created Clean Air Events which is dedicated to prioritizing safer gatherings for all and a focus on Far UV technology in tandem with other assorted clean air mitigation tools.
Choosing to still abstain from live performance when the world returned to the stage in 2021, he instead waited until he found a way to ensure a safer gathering experience for both fellow artists and attendees of his shows.
This show marks Kyle’s first time performing live since January 2020 and he will be drawing from his songbook of 30+ years as a touring and studio recording artist.
